Silver Falls State Park: Beautiful In Any Season

IMG_5145I’ve been to Silver Falls State Park so many times that I may have taken it for granted as of late. It’s always beautiful, rain, shine, or snow. It’s only 90 minutes from Portland and it has so much to offer. With over 30 miles of trails and 11 glorious waterfalls to enjoy, you can’t go wrong with a trip here to spend the day, swim in the river, or hike around. Not to mention, you can make a night of it in one of their lodges or cabins. I’ve stayed in the Lodge with dozens of my closest friends and it truly was an experience. But the hiking is stunning all on its own.

There are several different loops through this park and I will guarantee you will see at least two waterfalls, if not all 11, without going too far from the parking lot. During warmer months you can grab a bite at the cafe, warm up by the fire, or stop by the Nature Store. There are public restrooms, too.

Silver Falls is a few miles away from the little town of Silverton. If you’re coming from the Portland or Eugene area to see this park or visiting the Oregon Gardens, stop in Silverton for a bite to eat, have a few drinks, or just explore. I’ll share some recommendations below the photo gallery for all you foodies.

Recommendations of where to eat near Silver Falls State Park:

The Creekside Grill has the most delicious specials and if you get a table on the porch, you really are dining creekside. I’ve loved their brisket and BBQ-inspired dinners and they have great sweet potato fries, too!

If you’re looking for a more elegant dining experience, go to the Silver Grille. I personally think it to be one of Oregon’s top restaurants. They take reservations and are a great place to take loved ones for a special occasion. You could even celebrate your marriage proposal here after asking at the falls. Definitely save room for the desserts. They change their menu regularly so I can’t make any specific promises, but the meals I’ve had there were delicious.
